Getting "Datastore usage on disk" alert on datastore

Issue/Introduction

Symptoms: 

• There is a Critical alert "Datastore usage on disk" for the datastore.
  
  

 

Validation Steps:                        

• Datastore usage was showing 80% utilized
  
       
     

Environment

VMware ESXi 7.x
VMware ESXi 8.x

Cause

• An alarm is set on the vCenter to caution the admin to check the size of the datastore and take necessary action.

 

Resolution

• This is the default configuration in the vCenter alarm definition, which triggers an alarm when 75% of the datastore’s storage space is consumed.
• You can modify this threshold in the Alarm Definitions within vCenter.
