VMware NSX VCF Operations for Networks

Issue/Introduction

  • Aria Operations for Networks has NSX configured as a Data Source
  • From within the NSX User Interface, searching for NSGroup UUID referenced in the error returns a group with a name similar to vRNI-Node_Group_Profile_TN_<ID>
  • NSX Manager logs shows the following error.

/var/log/proton/nsxapi.log
[Timestamp] ERROR http-nio-127.0.0.1-7440-exec-261 NsxComputeCollectionServiceImpl 5357 FABRIC [nsx@6876 comp="nsx-manager" errorCode="PM26907" level="ERROR" reqId="[UUID]" subcomp="manager" username="[USER]@[DOMAIN]"] Cannot perform Remove NSX on cluster [UUID]:[MOREF ID] because of following validation errors on transport nodes - 1)[UUID] : One or more relationships exist for object with id TransportNode/[UUID] from NSGroup/[UUID].

Environment

VMware NSX
VMware NSX-T Data Center
VMware Aria Operations for Networks

Resolution

  1. Temporarily disable NSX Data Source within Aria Operations for Network (AON). Once disabled, the vRNI groups will automatically be removed from NSX.
    1. Login to the AON User Interface
    2. Go to Settings > Accounts and Data Sources > Data Collection
    3. Disable Data Collection
  2. From within the NSX User interface, remove NSX from the required hosts
  3. From within Aria Operations for Network User Interface enable Data Collection again. This will recreate vRNI groups.
