VMware Aria Automation does not show login screen: “no healthy upstream“ plaintext error

Issue/Introduction

• “no healthy upstream“ plaintext error is seen when loading Aria Automation in the browser
• Loading IDM itself in the browser shows a "502 Bad Gateway" error: "NSX LB"

Environment

• VMware Aria Automation 8.x
• VMware Identity Manager 3.3.x

Cause

• Issue on the NSX load balancer for vIDM

Resolution

Confirm that the settings are correct on the NSX load balancer for vIDM:

• Check the nodes in the server pool are up, and investigate these IDM nodes' health if not
• The same certificate needs to be set in the NSX Client+Server SSL sections, as is on the vIDM nodes themselves
• Header sizes for response and request can usually be set to 4096 bytes to ensure packets can get through
