Cannot enable 'vMotion' service on vmk, this optionbox is disabled

Issue/Introduction

The 'vMotion' checkbox is disabled on vmk0, so  vMotion cannot be enabled on this vmkernel port.

Additional Symptoms Reported:

Customer wants to enable vMotion on vmk0 but it is grayed out.

Environment

vCenter 7.0.x

vCenter 8.0.x

 

Cause

Another vmkernel adapter is configured with vMotion TCP/IP stack, while vmk0 is configured with Default TCP/IP stack.

 

Resolution

Remove the vmk which is configured with 'vMotion' TCP/IP stack.

Then vmk0 can be configured with 'vMotion' service.
