SDDC Manager requires the download of 5.2.1.0 bundles while updating from 5.2.0.1 to 5.2.1.1

Issue/Introduction

While performing an update from 5.2.0.1 to 5.2.1.1, following bundles are reported as missing

1) SDDC Manager bundle for 5.2.1.0

2) Component bundles as per 5.2.1.0 BOM (Only if OBTU is being utilized for the update)

Following errors may be observed in lcm.log -

xxxx-xx-xxTxx:xx:xx.xxx+0000 ERROR [vcf_lcm,xxxxxx,xx] [c.v.v.l.r.a.c.v.u.UpgradeController,http-nio-127.0.0.1-7400-exec-6] Scheduling Upgrade Failed com.vmware.evo.sddc.lcm.model.error.LcmException: One or more bundles require download for the upgrade: 5.2.1.0=[1836c2da-705c-4119-b3fa-1edba91a72d9, 4aac682c-ecf1-4828-acf8-1ceb466c2f9f, 1c145a20-1f19-4393-bec3-b424d12245b5, 7a70a555-74ec-4849-89d4-3e45b551c8d8]

Environment

VMware Cloud Foundation 5.x

Cause

This is an expected behavior as per current product design.

Resolution

This issue will be addressed in future VCF releases.

Workaround-

For SDDC Manager update, 

1. If Online method is being used, the SDDC 5.2.1.0 bundle can be downloaded from "Bundle Management" interface
2. If Offline method is being used, the SDDC 5.2.1.0 bundle with bundle details as below can be downloaded using OBTU (Offline bundle transfer utility)-
   • bundle-133760 (SDDC_MANAGER_VCF-5.2.1.0-24307856)

For BOM component(Eg. NSX, vCenter, ESXi) updates,

1. If Online method is being used, the missing bundles issue will not be observed for the BOM components.
2. If Offline method is being used, you can download following bundles using OBTU -
   • bundle-133762 (ESX_HOST-8.0.3-24280767)    
   • bundle-133763 (NSX_T_MANAGER-4.2.1.0.0-24304122)
   • bundle-133765 (VCENTER-8.0.3.00300-24305161)

Download the correct bundle using VCF API Unable to download the NSX-T or vCenter Install bundles from the SDDC Manager UI.
