Environment password policy change impact for Harvest

Issue/Introduction

Our IT department is going to enforce some password policy  and we would like to know if this password policy change impacts the CA Harvest user authentication.

Environment

CA Harvest Software Change Manager version 14.x

Resolution

If CA Harvest uses internal authentication the environment password policy has no impact on Harvest user authentication.

However, if CA Harvest uses LDAP authentication, then the environment password policy change will impact Harvest user authentication. That is, if external authentication is used, the LDAP server controls the password policy and the password is not saved or controlled by Harvest. For example, if the policy requires password length is at least 8 and one user has existing password has length of 7, then this user won't be able to login to CA Harvest anymore after policy change and the user would need to reset the password in LDAP.
