Issue/Introduction

While validating the NFS mount to configure the standby cell, it fails with error "Backend validation of NFS mount failed with: Unexpected ownership and/or permissions on provided NFS share. Expected: vcloud:vcloud with mode: 750. Found: vcloud:vcloud with mode 770"

Environment

VMware Cloud Director 10.x

Cause

This issue happens when the permissions on the NFS mount are incorrect in the primary cell.

Resolution

Note: As per best practices, please take no memory snapshots of all VCD appliances before proceeding to make any changes.

Please follow below steps to address this issue -

  1. SSH to the VCD primary cell
  2. Change directory to the mount - cd /opt/vmware/vcloud-director/data
  3. Change permissions to 750 - chmod 750 transfer
  4. Perform NFS validations from VAMI on standby cell and continue the configuration
