Site pairing is failing on SRM instances with error "Unable to connect to Site Recovery Manager Server"

Issue/Introduction

Symptoms:

  • SRM UI display the below errors while creating a site pair or when trying to reconnect the site pair which is disconnected after vcenter server upgrade:
Unable to connect to Site Recovery Manager Server at https://srm-xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx.xxx:443/drserver/vcdr/vmomi/sdk.
Reason:java.net.UnknownHostException: srm-xxxxxxx-01.cxxx.xxxxx.xx.xxOperation

Unable to connect to Site Recovery Manager Server at https://srm-xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx.xxx:443/drserver/vcdr/vmomi/sdk.
Reason:java.net.SocketTimeoutException: 30,000 milliseconds timeout on connection http-outgoing-33 [ACTIVE]

  • SRM Server at DR site is unreachable.

Environment

VMware vCenter Server 8.x
Site Recovery Manager 8.x
VMware Live Site Recovery 9.x

Cause

  • It is observed when the vCenter version is not compatible with the Site Recovery Manager version

  • For instance, the vcenter server version is 8.0u3c and the SRM version is 8.8, these warnings are expected when we try to reconnect the site pair

Resolution

Upgrade and match vCenter version, SRM and vSphere replication versions as per the compatibility and interoperability to resolve the issue.
