A disaster recovery administrator notices that after cleaning up a recovery plan that was ran as a test, disaster recovery site LUN(s) still show connected but being detected as a snapshot.
VMware Live Site Recovery (All versions)
Site Recovery Manager 8.x and prior
Array Based Replication 3rd party vendor solution
This is caused when the Array Manager, for some reason, is not able to delete the snapshot LUNs after the Test Recovery Cleanup
During a test failover that uses Array Based Replication, the vendor specific Storage Replication Adapter (also known as SRA) communicates with the replicating array to create a LUN snapshot.
This snapshot volume is then mounted to the ESXi hosts on the DR side, so that the environment can facilitate these LUNs for purposes of the other disaster recovery operations.
After cleaning up a test plan, these snapshot volumes should be cleaned up on the target environment by the Storage Array Manager
If you find LUNs still showing up as snapshots, after cleaning up from a Test Plan operation in VMware Live Site Recovery operations, please contact your SRA/storage vendor
