Issue/Introduction

After a custom group is created, the condition is as follows:

  • When the objects enter the group, the value to assign is 1 (One).
  • When the objects exits the group the value is 0 (Zero)
  • The tag in the custom property metric on resource pool objects is '1'. After a while, this metric flips the value to '0'.
  • The workaround is to go back and edit the custom group. The resource pool objects are still there, and when it clicks 'Update,' the value returns to '1.

Environment

Aria Operations 8.18.X

Cause

The issue occurs when the same property name is used across two different custom groups. This creates a conflict, as the property name cannot be duplicated in multiple groups.

Resolution

To resolve this issue, create custom properties with unique names for each custom group. This will ensure there are no conflicts in the property names.

If you intend to use the same property name across multiple custom groups for alert definition purposes, you can leverage the negation option within the symptom definition inside the alert configuration. This will allow you to apply the same property name while preventing conflicts.
