Issue/Introduction

SVGA service is down and when attempting to start it failed with the error:

"Faulting application name: vm3dservice.exe"

Environment

Windows server 2012 (build 9200)

Windows 8

Cause

The issue was caused by VM3DService calling a Windows API that is not available on these Windows versions.

Resolution

Issue is fixed in VMTools-12.4.5 and later version.
