  • Edge syslog shows the following

/var/log/syslog
<TIMESTAMP>  NSX 6665 FABRIC [nsx@6876 comp="nsx-edge" subcomp="datapathd" s2comp="stats" tname="stats21" level="INFO"] rte malloc_heap socket 0: free 255113792 size 4294967296 mempool 2515015040
<TIMESTAMP> NSX 6665 FABRIC [nsx@6876 comp="nsx-edge" subcomp="datapathd" s2comp="stats" tname="stats21" level="INFO"] rte malloc_heap socket 0: free 255113792 size 4294967296 mempool 2515015040

  • The Edge may have been deployed with a Medium, Large or X-Large form factor.
  • The number of vCPUs on the Edge was manually increased. For example, from 4 vCPUs to 8 vCPUs
  • Since the vCPU change, the memory consumption on the edge has increased leading to memory exhaustion.

Environment

VMware NSX
VMware NSX-T Data Center
