Issue/Introduction

After upgrade to Aria operations 8.18.3 , Error: "Single Sign-On Redirect URL is Null" is displayed when logging in using the preconfigured SSO SAML from vcenter server.

Environment

Aria Operations 8.18.x

Resolution

From Aria Operations 8.18 we can configure vCenter server SSO directly in Authentication Sources using the 'VMware SSO' option in the source.

Option 1 :

  • Configure a new Authentication source using the new 'VMware SSO'. using this document.
  • Import Users and groups from 'VMware SSO' as mentioned in step 3 of above document.

Option 2:

  • If you still want to use the old vcenter server as 'SSO SAML' authentication source configured earlier, then go back to 'Administration-> Control Panel  ->Access Control ' page
  • Select all the users accounts already present for the 'SSO SAML' source type.
  • Click on the 3 ellipses, then click export. Provide a password for the file and click Export.
  • Go back to the 'Administration-> Control Panel -> Authentication sources' . Edit the 'SSO SAML' source present there.
  • After providing the password from the configured user click ' TEST' button. Accept the certificate pop-up.
  • New Single sign on source detected message pops up.

  • Provide credentials to delete the existing source and reconfigure it. click OK.
  • Go to  'Administration-> Control Panel  ->Access Control ' page and click on 3 ellipses next to the 'ADD' button then click import
  • Browse to the location of the file we exported earlier then click 'IMPORT'.
  • You can now use this source as used before the upgrade.
