Scheduled task "VMware vSphere Lifecycle Manager Update Download" stops running

Issue/Introduction

• In the vCenter Sever > Configure > Scheduled Tasks interface, the VMware vSphere Lifecycle Manager Update Download task can be seen.
• Clicking the ">" next to the task name shows that the task is set to run every few days and the last 5 run results.
• However, the task unexpectedly stopped running automatically as scheduled.

Environment

VMware vCenter Server 7.x

Resolution

To workaroud the issue,  recreate the VMware vSphere Lifecycle Manager Update Download task by using one of the following methods:

Option 1：

1. From the vSphere Client menu, go to Lifecycle Manager > Settings > Patch Downloads > EDIT, uncheck Download patches, and click SAVE.
2. Click EDIT again, check Download patches, and click SAVE.

Option 2:

1. Go to vCenter Server > Configure > Scheduled Tasks, select the VMware vSphere Lifecycle Manager Update Download task, and click REMOVE.
2. From the vSphere Client menu, go to Lifecycle Manager > Settings > Patch Downloads > EDIT, check Download patches, and click SAVE.
