Issue/Introduction

The alarm is triggered after the host restart:
Registration/Unregistration of third-party IO filter storage provider fails on a host.

Environment

VMware vSphere ESXi 7.x

VMware vSphere ESXi 8.x

Cause

This is a known cosmetic issue. When hosts are restarted, the storage providers they host can be temporarily unavailable. This can happen because the host is not full booted up yet, and the IO filter is truly not reachable/registerable yet.

Resolution

If this alarm is triggered, recommend to check the online status of the IO Filter storage and validate the VASA storage provider is compatible with vCenter and ESXi. If compatibility and online status are good, try resetting the alarm to green to see if the alarm is re-triggered.
