Issue/Introduction

Logic Monitor monitoring for our servers alerted to VC /storage/log filling up, but no alerts were seen in VC.

Resolution

The alerts are seen in the vCenter server under the `Monitor -> Triggered Alarms` tab, this alert will drop down from the main alert page if multiple alerts are triggered.

 

The default alarms can be modified to send an email to raise visibility of the alarm please see Product Documentation.

Required Privilege: AlarmsCreate alarm or AlarmsModify alarm

  1. Select the vCenter inventory object, click the Configure tab.
  2. Click Alarm Definitions.
  3. Find the alarm you wish to modify, (in this case "Log Disk Exhaustion on vcenter") and select the radio box to the left.
  4. Click Edit.
  5. In the Alarm Rule 1 enable the "Send email notifications" slider and add the designated email address to the "Email to" line that appears. This will alert when the Status changes from green to yellow.
  6. In the Alarm Rule 2 enable the "Send email notifications" slider and add the designated email address to the "Email to" line that appears. This will alert when the Status changes from yellow to red.
  7. Click through to the Review page and then click "save". This will modify the alarm.
