PDF reports from VCF Operations shows incomplete dashboard content.

Issue/Introduction

• PDF reports generated or scheduled from dashboards show partial or missing data in metric chart widgets.
• Direct PDF exports via the dashboard toolbar may display data correctly, while scheduled reports do not.
• The report output does not capture the full dataset for metric charts.

VMware Aria Operations 8.18.x

VCF Operations 9.x

 

Cause

• This issue occurs due to insufficient widget display area within the dashboard layout.
• The automated report generation engine requires adequate physical widget space to render all object metrics. Unlike manual exports which may render dynamically, scheduled background reports depend on preset layout dimensions.

Resolution

This is expected behavior in VMware Aria Operations and VCF Operations. Reports render dashboards as static images; any component requiring scrolling or interaction will not capture full details.

Workarounds

• Add views directly to the report rather than full dashboards.

• Select Save as PDF on the Metric Chart widget inside the dashboard.

• Share a live link to the dashboard instead of generating a report.

• Break large metric charts into smaller dashboards to combine into a multi-dashboard report 

Alternatively:

Expand the dashboard container size 

1. 1. Log in to the VCF Operations UI.

   2. Go to Infrastructure Operations > Dashboards.

   3. Edit the custom dashboard containing the metric chart widget.

   4. Expand the widget container size to provide sufficient render space for all metrics.

   5. Save the dashboard layout and re-run or reschedule report generation.

Additional Information

• If the dashboard contains a large number of objects, consider using Views in the report instead of dashboards.
