PDF Report is not showing complete dashboard contents

Issue/Introduction

• All objects from the dashboard are not included in the report.
• All metric charts from the dashboard are not included in the report

Environment

VMware Aria Operations 8.x

Cause

To generate a PDF report, the dashboard is rendered in code (similar to how a web browser would render it) and an image of the rendered dashboard is inserted into the PDF report. Any dashboard component that requires interaction or scrolling will not include full details in the report.

Resolution

This is expected behavior in Aria Operations.

Workarounds

• Include Views in the report rather than dashboards
• Use the Save as a PDF button from the Metric Chart widget in the dashboard to obtain a pdf containing all metric charts
• Provide a shared link to the dashboard instead of a report
• Break the metric charts into smaller dashboards then create a report with multiple smaller dashboards
