Recovering the hosts in error state due to VCF Add WLD/Add cluster Pre-validation Failure

Issue/Introduction

• Currently in VCF if the Add WLD/Add cluster pre-validation fails the hosts used for Add WLD/Add cluster creation cannot be reused as it will show as Error state hosts.
• Since the hosts is not part of any vSphere cluster it can be reused for another workflow.

Environment

VMware Cloud Foundation

Resolution

In order to reuse the hosts we have to follow below steps 

1. Delete the domain
2. Decommission and the hosts
3. Commission the hosts

Below is the steps to follow to recover the hosts

API

• Deleting Domain - Domains APIs
• Decommission the hosts - Hosts APIs
• Commission the hosts - Hosts APIs

UI

• nfs-cluster is in ERROR state
  
• All the hosts are in Error state
  
• Delete the cluster
  
• Decommission the Need cleanup hosts
  

 

• Once the hosts are decommissioned those hosts can reused by commissioning the hosts again.
• Post these steps the hosts can be reused for other workflows
