Issue/Introduction
After patching host, logging in with Esxi root password fails login.
Environment
Nimble storage
Cause
Nimble storage continues to use old ESXi root password.
Resolution
Option 1:
Update Nimble Configuration: Locate the ESXi Host Credentials: Within the Nimble web UI or CLI, find the section where ESXi host credentials are configured. Update the Root Password: Enter the new ESXi root password in the Nimble configuration.
Option 2:
Reset the ESXi Root Password: Access ESXi Shell: Log into the ESXi host via the DCUI (Direct Console User Interface) and enable the ESXi Shell. Change the Password: Use the passwd command in the ESXi Shell to change the root password. Reboot the Host: Reboot the ESXi host for the changes to take effect.
Note: Ensure the connection is secure:
After updating the Nimble configuration or resetting the ESXi password, verify that Nimble can successfully connect to the ESXi host. Check the Nimble logs for any authentication errors or connection issues.
