Issue/Introduction
You see alerts 'Group population health is degraded' and 'Group population efficiency is degraded' triggered in Aria Operations on vRealize Operations Manager Self Monitoring object
Environment
Aria Operations 8.18.x
Cause
These critical alerts are triggered when the below metrics drop below a value of 25 on the vRealize Operations Manager Self Monitoring object :
Health | Average score of All Group Members
Efficiency | Average score of All Group Members
Object can be found under : Inventory >> Integrations tab (jigsaw piece icon) >> Container >> vRealize Operations Manager Self Monitoring or can simply search for vRealize Operations Manager Self Monitoring in the search bar
Resolution
Go to Inventory >> Integrations tab (jigsaw piece icon) >> Container >> vRealize Operations Manager Self Monitoring (or can simply search for vRealize Operations Manager Self Monitoring in the search bar)
Check the Collection status of Aria Operations Adapter object in the group (please refer to the name in the alert) by hovering-over the state/status icons near "Troubleshoot" button top right. Make sure they are in Collecting state and Data Receiving status otherwise follow the alert recommendation to resolve it.
In Rare scenarios these Adapters state may be In Maintenance(manual) and Collection Status is blank. To resolve this please follow below :
Go and select the problematic instance by going to Operations >> Configurations >> Inventory Management >> Adapter Instances >> vRealize Operations Adapter instance
Click on the button that is marked 'End Maintenance' . The Collection state on the object should change to Collecting and Status to Data Receiving.
After 5 minutes check that the metrics mentioned in the cause section are back to 100. The alerts will become inactive automatically.
