vSAN-related options are missing under both the Monitor and Configure tabs for all vSAN-enabled clusters in the vSphere Client.
The impacted options include key vSAN configuration and health monitoring features that are typically visible in the vSphere Client as highlighted above.
The issue affects all vSAN-enabled clusters within a specific vCenter Server instance.
This behavior started occurring after the /storage/log partition on the vCenter Server became full.
A cleanup of the /storage/log partition was performed, but the issue persisted.
Restarting the vmware-vsan-health service does not resolve the issue.
VMware vCenter Server 7.x
VMware vCenter Server 8.x
The issue is caused by an incomplete or improper cleanup of the /storage/log partition on the vCenter Server. Specifically, the directory /var/log/vmware/vsan-health contained large, outdated log files that had not been rotated as expected.
The vSAN health service logs were not cleared, contributing to the partition becoming full and preventing normal operation of the vSAN services within the vSphere Client.
Manually removed the large and outdated log files located under: /var/log/vmware/vsan-health
After cleanup, restarted the vmware-vsan-health service using the following command:
service-control --restart vmware-vsan-health
Post-restart, the vSAN Skyline Health and vSAN configuration sections reappeared under the Monitor and Configure tab for all vSAN-enabled clusters in the vSphere Client.
