Issue/Introduction

- "Create SNMP Traps" for alarms is disabled.

- When you check the API results, SNMP is disabled.

curl -k -u admin -X GET https://<NSX_Manager_IP_address>/api/v1/events/

- SNMP traps are triggered even though SNMP is disabled for the alarm.

Environment

VMware NSX

VMware NSX-T

Cause

If you change only "Create SNMP Traps", the changes may not be applied.

Resolution

This issue fixed by 3.2.4 and 4.2.

Workaround:

The settings will be applied by changing the values of "Enable Detection" and "Create SNMP Traps" at the same time.

  1. Log in to the NSX GUI.
  2. Go to Home > Alarms > Alarm Definitions.
  3. Select the target alarm's [︙] and select "Edit".
  4. Turn off "Enable Detection".
  5. Press "Save".
  6. Wait for least one minute, then select the target alarm's [︙] again and select "Edit".
  7. Turn on "Enable Detection".
  8. Turn off "Create SNMP Traps".
  9. Press "Save".

Another workaround is to restart messaging-manager on all NSX Managers:

/etc/init.d/messaging-manager restart
