Industrial vSwitch (IvS) supports Parallel Redundancy Protocol (PRP) for redundancy in Profinet industrial ethernet. IvS can have two connections for LAN A and LAN B. In addition to PRP, IvS uses teaming with two vmnics for each LAN A and LAN B. The teaming policy is Failover order.
This article describes the way how to verify the uplink configurations when modifying the uplink profile on NSX UI.
4.2.x
To confirm the current uplink profile on NSX UI, you need to open Transport Node Profile. It is in the System -> Fabric -> Hosts.
The uplink profile is in the Host Switch.
If you open the Uplink Profile, you can check the Active Uplink and Standby Uplink for LAN A and LAN B.
For example,
- LAN A has uplink1 for Active and uplink3 for Standby
- LAN B has uplink2 for Active and uplink4 for Standby
And you can find that the Teaming Policy is set to Failover Order there.
- Get the MAC address of the NIC that is connected Profinet network
- Login to the ESXi Host via SSH
- Run the command and find the DvsPortset name for the MAC address
net-stats -l
- Run the command and find Switch ID (swID) for the DvsPortset
nsxcli -c get ens switch list
- Run the following command to show teh prp config.
nsxcli -c get ens prp config 0
You can check the vmnic names with teaming in the output.
