Issue/Introduction

Symptoms:

Upon disabling the SDRS from the vCenter GUI, after some time it automatically gets enabled:

Environment

vCenter Server 7.x

Cause

This could be happening due to a scheduled task to configure Storage DRS on the cluster.

In the vpxd logs, we will see the below events stating that the SDRS is getting enabled by a scheduled task on the vCenter:

2025-02-27T18:56:01.147Z info vpxd[08261] [Originator@6876 sub=vpxLro opID=ProcessScheduledTaskFiring-3113c398] [VpxLRO] -- BEGIN task-155975 -- StorageResourceManager -- vim.StorageResourceManager.configureStorageDrsForPod -- 52458fb7-a095-52be-4ba9-ab07dcee29b6
2025-02-27T18:56:01.188Z info vpxd[08261] [Originator@6876 sub=vpxLro opID=ProcessScheduledTaskFiring-3113c398] [VpxLRO] -- FINISH task-155975

On the datastore cluster, there would be a scheduled task ideally with the name Configure Storage DRS as shown below when we navigate to the configure tab under 'Scheduled Tasks':

Resolution

On removing this scheduled task, SDRS is now disabled and does not get enabled on its own.
