Issue/Introduction

Using the Aria Suite easy installed Lifecycle manager fails after ova deploy to set root password

Environment

Aria Suite Lifecycle manager 8.x

Cause

The Aria Suite easy installer sends a rest API call to the new Life cycle manager appliance to set the root password.

If port 443 is blocked between Window system running the easy installer and the IP used for the life cycle manager then easy installer will fail with the following error

Error: Error occurred during updating  VMware Aria Suite Lifecycle password

Resolution

Ensure port 443 is open between Window machine running the Aria Suite easy installer, and IP used for Lifecycle manager.

Additional Information

Upon investigation, it was determined that the Aria Suite Lifecycle Manager virtual machine was not reachable over the network.

Further analysis revealed that this was due to a misconfiguration of the VM’s assigned port group.

Resolution:

  • The VM’s port group configuration was corrected to the appropriate network.

  • After updating the port group, network connectivity was restored.

  • With connectivity established, the installation process was retried and completed successfully.
