Error: "Unable to update vCenter password in VMware Aria Suite Lifecycle"

Issue/Introduction

Password operations for vCenter service account may fail if a datacenter name is edited or changed in either vCenter or vRSLCM.

If the datacenter name is changed in vCenter this will be synced with SDDC manager but not Aria Suite Lifecycle. If the datacenter name is changed in vRSLCM directly, it will not be synced with either SDDC manager or vCenter. 

You may see errors in the operationsmanager logs similar to this: "Data Center not found with Name or Id: <fqdn>"

Environment

VCF 5.2+

Cause

SDDC Manager 5.2+ will sync with vCenter automatically and use the datacenter name from vCenter for password operations on the Aria Suite Lifecycle component.

Changing the datacenter name is not supported in VCF environments before 5.2.

 

Resolution

Ensure that datacenter name is consistent between vRSLCM and vCenter.
