Issue/Introduction

A virtual machine with Red Hat Enterprise Linux installed as the guest operating system fails to boot on ESXi after its virtual SCSI controller was changed from LSI Logic Parallel to VMware Paravirtual (PVSCSI).

During the failed boot, the following messages are shown on the screen:

Warning: / dev/ disk/by—uuid/<disk_UUID> does not exist

Generating "/run/ initramfs/rdsosreport .txt"

Entering emergency Mode. Exit the shell to continue.
Type "journalctl" to view system logs.
You might want to save "/run/initramfs/rdsosreport . txt" to a USB stick or /boot
after mounting them and attach it to a bug report.
