Issue/Introduction

Question:

Does Datacom support DS8860 DASD?

Answer:

Datacom is not hardware dependent.

 

We are not aware of any problems with any DASD Hardware as any kind of 

restriction with Datacom. 

If you asking about EAV device support, then the answer is that r14 

supports those devices and does take advantage of the cylinders above the 

64k boundary. 

 

R12 will support the devices as a normal 3390 device but will not take 

advantage of the cylinders above the 64k boundary. Datacom uses EXCP as the 

type of I/O in r12/r14, but I believe z/OS 1.13 has to be the minimal 

release to allow that to happen (IBM restriction not Datacom r14).
