sql_response probe 1.82 throws intermittent connection failure errors

Issue/Introduction

After upgrading the sql_response probe to 1.82 we started to occasionally receive connection failure alerts.

The log shows an error like the following:

operation: Open, COM Error [0x80040e4d] IDispatch error #3149 - [IBM OLE DB Provider for DB2]  SQL30082N  Security processing failed with reason "3" ("PASSWORD MISSING").  SQLSTATE=08001

or

operation: Open, COM Error [0x80040e4d] IDispatch error #3149 - [Microsoft OLE DB Provider for SQL Server] Login failed for user '((username)'. 

The profile works fine most of the time but still occasionally throws this error even though nothing has changed in the environment.

Resolution

This will be resolved in sql_response 1.83 which is due out around the end of March 2025.

As a workaround you may downgrade to v1.81 but the encryption strength has changed in 1.82 so when you downgrade, the profile will fail.  To resolve the issue you must reconfigure the profile using the GUI and re-enter the password.
