Windows Software Update Installation task fails with error 0x80070057

Issue/Introduction

"Windows Software Update Installation" task as part of the Deployment job may fail with error:

CAtrsException exception, error: Failed to execute task, OS error: The parameter is incorrect (0x80070057)

Environment

ITMS 8.x

Cause

Running deployment for pre-defined machine and including Windows Software Update Installation task as part of the job may fail.

Issue happens on a client side because Software Update Agent which was recently installed still not received Default Software Update Plug-in policy.

Resolution

In order to avoid this issue:

• Add predefined computers to a target and add it to "Default Software Update plugin" policy (or custom policy).
• Include 'Update Client Configuration' task before "Windows Software Update Installation" task to ensure client already has all required policies for plugin to perform the task.
