Basic Authentication is not functioning for remote users, Error "Authentication credentials are not provided", "Invalid credentials or locked account".

Issue/Introduction

• When making an API call using an LDAP account with Basic Authentication enabled, The customer is encountering the following error:    

• • An error "Invalid credentials or locked account" occurs on the ARIA NetOps tool when attempting to add the AVI for monitoring using an LDAP user account.

• • An error  "Authentication credentials are not provided" occurs on Postman tool when making an api call using ldap account.

• We have checked the Events on Avi, and the remote user is able to authenticate successfully on the AVI GUI.

• We checked the portal.access.log and observed that AVI is returning a 401 error for the API call made using the user’s LDAP account.

Cause

Basic auth with remote user credentials and tokens (local and remote users) is not supported for releases 30.x and 31.1.1.

 

Resolution

Workaround :

Use local user account for making api calls from tools.
