Issue/Introduction

  • ESXi host shows as "not responding" in vCenter after patching.
  • The ESXi host management ip is not responding to ping thus unable to login via host client/ssh etc.
  • The hardware management page (iLO/iDRAC) is unable to load and hardware management ip is not responding to ping as well.

Environment

VMware vSphere ESXi 7.0
VMware vSphere ESXi 8.0

Cause

This issue is caused by hardware fault.

Resolution

  1. Perform hardware power reset
  2. Contact hardware vendor if still unable to bring up the ESXi host
