Issue/Introduction

  • The following Loop Intent alert is raised for Cisco ACI data source in AON.
    • Group (Category) : Network Health
    • Intent Type: Loop Detection
    • Name: Loop Detection
    • UI Name: Network contains the following loop.
    • Severity: Critical
    • Description: Network should be loop free.
  • The loop intent reported when the in-band management address in configured for APIC in Cisco ACI.
  • From Cisco ACI point of view this is not a loop.

Environment

Aria Operations for Networks 6.14.0

Cause

The APIC controller in-band management IP and MAC address are learned as part of the routing information, but not as an endpoint information from the ACI. In the current AON implementation, the ARP entries in NAV model are created only for the endpoint which has been learned.

However, APIC in-band management IP and MAC address is not learned as part of endpoint information and hence appropriate ARP entries are not created in the NAV model, which may cause the AON to report incorrect loop intent.

Resolution

If reporting of loop intent is not required, the alert in question can be disabled or the intent excluded, if necessary.
