Issue/Introduction

  • Protection group summary page may display snapshots still present past the expiration time.
  • Below example shows some of the snapshot are past 2+ hours after expiration and appear to be stale.

Environment

VMware Live Cyber Recovery 7.27.x

Cause

VLCR uses a cron job called SnapStoreCleaner which runs every 30 mins to delete the snapshots that are expired. If a snapshot expiry time is right after the job finish time, the same snapshot will be deleted on the next run after 30 mins. Hence the UI may show some snapshots after expiration time as expired some minutes ago. In some cases the snapshot might have been deleted in the backend, however the browser cache might not be updated.

Resolution

If the above symptoms are seen, please wait for the next run of SnapStoreCleaner to delete the snapshots in the backend and refresh the page or clear the browser cache.

If the snapshots continues to appear in the summary page even after multiple browser refreshes or clearing the browser cache, please open a support case with VMware by Broadcom as the snapshot might be stale.
