Issue/Introduction
IGMPv3 queries originating from MAC 55:55:55:55:55:55 and IP 0.0.0.0 are seen on ESXi host
Environment
ESXi 8.0.3
Cause
These queries are generated by ESX management port for IGMP/MLD snooping functionality.
Resolution
This is an expected behavior when IGMP snooping is enabled.
Based on the IGMP interval query set, internal queries are generated if no external query received in the last query interval + 10 secs delta. For instance, if the IGMP query interval was set to 67 the internal queries will be generated after 77 secs if no external query is received.
