  • On the NSX Manager UI, under System > Fabric > Nodes > Edge Transport Nodes, shows an error

    Edge Deletion Failed [Fabric] Edge <name> delete failed as unable to reach edge NSX Inventory does not have the VM information. Follow this knowledge base
    article to clear edge from NSX Manager https://kb.vmware.com/s/article/89283

  • Replacing, Redeploying or Deleting an Edge node from the NSX UI fails with an error similar to this example:

    Transport node delete Failed: The object path=[/infra/sites/default/enforcement-points/default/edge-transport-node/] cannot be deleted as either it has children or it is being referenced by other objects path=[/infra/sites/default/enforcement-points/default/edge-clusters/<UUID>/edge-nodes/

  • An API GET /api/v1/transport-nodes shows the ovf deployment on vCenter failed, the API output will have fields similar to this example

    "sub_system_id" : "TRANSPORT_NODE_CONFIG_STATE".
    "state" : "VM PLACEMENT REERESH FAILED"
    'failure_message" : "ovf deploy for vm <name> failed on vc <VC> : VC operation failed

Cause

In some cases, a failure to deploy a new VM as a replacement for a faulted NSX Edge transport node can result in a stalled job in NSX Manager that cannot proceed until the VM is detected in vCenter.

Resolution
