Issue/Introduction

In Aria Automation Orchestrator, when running the workflow, "Add a vCenter Server Instance", the workflow fails, and you get an error that states that the "VcPlugin" is not defined.

Error:
item: 'Add a vCenter Server instance/item3', state: 'failed', business state: 'Connection validation failed', exception: 'ReferenceError: "VcPlugin" is not defined. (Workflow:Add a vCenter Server instance / Validate (item2)#2)'
workflow: 'Add a vCenter Server instance'

If you open Inventory, "vSphere vCenter Server" is not listed.

The Plug-in is enabled in the Control Center or in version 8.18 and above, it is enabled in System Settings

Environment

Aria Automation Orchestrator (vRO) 8.x

Resolution

Delete and re-install the plugin

*Before making any changes, take a snapshot of the Automation/Orchestrator Appliance(s)

Download the Plug-in so that it can be re-installed.

  1. In Orchestrator 8.18 or higher, go to System Settings > Plug-ins
In versions below 8.18, you can open the Control Center and Go to Plug-ins

  2.  Select the VC plugin

  3. Click "Download" and save to your local system.

  4. After the VC plugin has been downloaded, delete the VC plugin in the UI

  5. Then at the top of the page Click "Browse" under "Install Plugin" or "Add Plug-in" and browse to the plugin file that was downloaded in step #1
The Control Center service should automatically restart 2 minutes after the plugin is installed.

  6. When it is finished restarting, you can Open Inventory and the plugin should be available again and you should be able to expand any previously configured vCenter instances

  7. If needed, re-run the workflow "Add a vCenter Server instance" to add your vCenter instance.
