LiveUpdate URLs ending TLS 1.0 and TLS 1.1 support

Issue/Introduction

On May 1, 2025 the following LiveUpdate URLs will no longer accept connections from Servers or Workstations using TLS 1.0 and 1.1 protocol(s):

• liveupdate.symantec.com
• liveupdate.symantecliveupdate.com
• liveupdate-usci.symantecliveupdate.com
• definitions.symantec.com

Operating Systems which do not have TLS 1.2 (or higher) support will prevent a Symantec product from connecting to LiveUpdate servers and cause a failure or error message.

Environment

• Legacy Operating Systems which do not have support for TLS 1.2 (or higher) enabled.
• All Symantec products that use LiveUpdate servers.

Cause

TLS 1.0 and 1.1 support deprecated on LiveUpdate Servers.

Resolution

LiveUpdate supports TLS 1.2 connections from Symantec products.  To address this issue the Operating System must be:

• Updated to enable TLS 1.2 (or higher) support.
• Migrated to a version that can support TLS 1.2 (or higher).
