Issue/Introduction

Microsoft Office Application name is intermittently responded with NONE in Cloud SWG, hence policies don't run as expected. This would be unexpected result to particular customers.


Environment

Affected policy example.

 

Cause

Access to the Web Application Name Database can rarely be slow when its Database is being updated.
A few proxy servers in the GJPTK POP were impacted. that ‘in the unusual scenario where users are impacted, consider applying the workaround below …’.

Resolution

It will be fixed until Jul-2025 portal maintenance.

Additional Information

Work around is to use domain list instead of application name. For example below.

If Office 365 General is blocked/Allowed, www.office.com will be set in domain/URL list in the cloud portal. To confirm domain/URL for the application name, SiteReview is convenience.SiteReview Application Name Test

Search appropriate application name, such as Office 365 General. Point over the mouse "view website in new tab".

Let's put either "www.office.com" or "office.com" into the policy instead of Web Applicaiton Name.
Cloud portal -> Policy -> Content Filtering -> Add Rules, Chose Group A or B ->Add Destinations -> Domain/URL.


Click Add Domains/URLs and save, Finally Add Rule and Activate Policy.
