Unable to review charts from 2 separate objects in the same Metrics tab after upgrading to version 8.18

Issue/Introduction

On the previous version of Aria Operations, we reviewed metrics for separate objects in the same pane by searching for the first object, navigating to the metrics panel, opening the chart for the metric, then using the search bar at the top of the page to do the same for the second object.

After upgrade to version 8.18.x, when we perform the search for the second object, the metrics tab is reset and we lose the metric chart from the first object.

Environment

VMware Aria Operations 8.18.x

Cause

The UI architecture was modified in version 8.18 and the functionality for the Metrics tab has changed. Searches using the main search bar will reset the content of the Metrics tab.

Resolution

The Broadcom development team is aware of the functional loss and is working to restore the search behavior in a future version of the product.

Workaround

Until the new version is released, the search functionality in the Inventory panel can achieve the same result

1. Open the metric chart for the first object in the Metrics tab
   
   
2. In the Inventory Panel, click the Tree View button
   
   
   
   
3. Navigate to the desired object type in the Inventory panel and expand it
   
   
4. Select the second object from the list.
   
   Tip: If there are too many objects to browse for the second object, click the Search for descendant objects button, type part of the name of the object you are searching for, and hit Enter to filter the list of objects.
   
   
   
   
   
5. Add the second metric to review in the same Metrics tab

 

Additional Information

Metric-Based searching can provide an additional way to view metrics across multiple objects.
