Issue/Introduction

Problem:

After upgrading to the current release of CA Common Services, the existing ENFSNMPM task no longer initializes successfully. The task ends with condition code=08 and the following information can be found in the CAW1LOG output:

CAW1CNFG: Configuration file opened...
CAW1CNFG: read_file returned rc=0
CAW1CNFG: Configuration file closed...
CAW1CNFG: creating default entry
MAIN: CAW1ASMI completed
CAW1ENFI return rc=21, reason=00000000, enf_rc=0, enf_reason=04000000
MAIN: CAW1ENFI return rc=8

Environment:

Any support z/OS level

CA Common Services r12 and higher

Cause:

The most likely and most common cause is a missing DCM statement defining Data Control Module CAS9DCM4. This statement is required for ENFSNMPM as it allows ENF to define the corresponding event to its tables at startup. In addition to the messages found in CAW1LOG, the following messages will be found in the JESMSGLG:

IEF403I ENFSNMPM - STARTED - TIME=12.27.21
CAS9900I ENF SAPI/SNMP Monitor Initialization in Progress
CAS9905E ENFSNMP Event not found or Inactive
IEF404I ENFSNMPM - ENDED - TIME=12.27.21

Resolution:

Update the ENF parameter file (ie. ENFPARMS) to include the DCM statement DCM(CAS9DCM4), and then stop and start the ENF task.

Additional Information:

Refer to the CA Common Services for z/OS - Reference Guide for information pertaining to the CAIENF DCM control option.
