Telegraf Agent installed failed on Windows Servers on specific VLAN

Issue/Introduction

Symptoms:

1. Telegraf Agent installation on Windows Server 2022 failed from Aria Operations UI with error "14/16 Guest OS Microsoft Windows Server 2022 (64-bit) not supported. Connect to Salt Master".

2. The manual installation script also failed with error "install agents failed at - runBootstrapOrch. Please check C:\VMware\arc_install_tmp_dir\uaf_bootstrap.log on the endpoint VM.. please check logs for more detail."

3. All the Prerequisites are met, including the ports that are required are also open from target machine to the Cloud Proxies and the virtual IP of the application monitoring high availability activated collector group. However, on the Cloud Proxy that the vCenter Adapter is being collected on, there is no data transmission for the required ports (4505, 4506 in the following example) when executing the following command:

iptables -t nat -v -L PREROUTING

4. When performing a packet capture on the target machine, numerous TCP Retransmission entries are observed on required ports (4506 in the following example) between the target machine and the Cloud Proxy (or the Cloud Proxy VIP if application monitoring HA is activated for the collector group). 

Environment

Aria Operations 8.16 and above

Cause

Firewall rules is still interfering with the communication on the required ports. 

 

Resolution

Make sure the firewall rules are following Port Information and Communication with the Target Machines and VMware Ports and Protocols.
