"Error starting child" encountered during ca-userprofiling-application.war deployment

Issue/Introduction

ca-userprofiling-application.war fails to deploy with error in the catalina.out log as shown below:

Environment

Symantec Advanced Authentication 9.1.x

Tomcat 9.x

Cause

The root cause of the issue is an upgrade of two third-party libraries (namely logback-core and logback-classic).

Resolution

Please file a support case requesting the Hotfix called Symantec-AdvAuth-9.1.5.1-DE626261-HotFix or this deployment issue.
