Issue/Introduction

  • Virtual machines have been configured anti-affinity rule to prevent running on same ESXi host.
  • However these virtual machines can still run on the same ESXi host at the same time.

Environment

VMware vCenter Server 8.0.x
VMware vCenter Server 7.0.x

Cause

Virtual machines have been configured with DRS override rule to partial automation. The result is to allow these virtual machine can stay on the same ESXi host to violate the anti-affinity rule.

Resolution

The behavior works as designed.
