Can't create Service Monitor (Enhanced) net_connect MCS subprofile: Unable to find device with CS id: ##

Issue/Introduction

We can't create remote monitoring profile with net-connect probe. We are trying to monitor the port of a device from another host using the net-connect probe.

• In DX UIM 23.4.* (CU1/CU2/CU3):
  
  When I create Network Connectivity (Enhanced) and then a sub profile creation for Service Monitor (Enhanced) (port check) in DX UIM 23.4.3 it fails with error message
  
  "Unable to find device with CS id: ##"
  
  

 

 

• In DX UIM 20.4.*
  
  When click on enable bottom right when creating the Service Monitor sub profile nothing happens. The inner page (just the config area) is reloaded with the same data, no error message is displayed.

 

Environment

• DX UIM 20.4.*
• DX UIM 23.4.*
• net_connect 3.44 / Template Service Monitor (Enhanced) 3.43.3
  
  

Cause

MCS Template Defect when using Device Specific Service Monitor (Enhanced) profile. The issue does not affect group profiles. 

Resolution

• The ability to create Device Specific Service Monitor (Enhanced) profiles is currently prevented by this defect [DE629723]. The issue Is being investigated, and it will be fixed in a future release. 
  
  
• In both 20.4.* and 23.4.* version do DX UIM / Operator Console (OC), the issue does not happen if the MCS profile is created as a Group Profile.
  
  For creating this type of profile [Service Monitor (Enhanced)] create the  Network Connectivity (Enhanced) profile and then the subprofile Service Monitor (Enhanced) at a group level and not on the specific device.  Then add the target devices to the OC group. This is also suggested as best practice in net_connect MCS Profile Type Configuration
