Issue/Introduction

A CSAR defines a latency_sensitivity property with a valid_values of either “low” or “high”.  However, there is no property to set latency_sensitivity high with hyper threading.

Environment

2.3

Resolution

In the CSAR, latency sensitivity is not configured.

Here is what we recommended

  1. Disable NUMA alignment
  2. Set the latency sensitity to high
  3. Enable SMT

That is equivalent to a high latency sensitivity with hyperthreading.

You can also enable Hyperthreading in addition to NUMA alignment.

With NUMA alignment enabled, the recommendation is not using latency sensitivity settings.
Either use NUMA alignment or latency sensitivity, but they cannot be used together.
