Attempting to register Unity vasa provider with fails with error "A problem was encountered while registering the provider"

Issue/Introduction

When trying to register Unity VASA provider on vCenter, the following error appears:  "A problem was encountered while registering the provider.”

 

 

 

In /var/log/vmware/vmware-sps/sps.log show the following error

com.vmware.vim.vasa.InvalidCertificate: com.vmware.vim.vasa._3_0.InvalidCertificate: InvalidCertificate

Environment

vCenter 7.0

vCenter 8.0

Cause

If vCenter has a very large number of unused root certificates in vecs the unity array fails to store the sent certificates

Resolution

Manually clean up any old , expired or unused root and intermeidate certificates stored in VECS
