Issue/Introduction

I have attempted to downgrade the sql_response probe 1.82 to a prior version (e.g. 1.81) and the probe is failing to start and has turned red.

The log shows:

sql_response: (NimCryptographerCfgKeyReadEncryptedValue) failed to write. Permission denied. RC=0
Controller: Max. restarts reached for probe 'sql_response' (command = sql_response.exe)

Upgrading to 1.82 allows the probe to work again.

I need to use the prior version. How can I downgrade successfully?

Environment

DX UIM - Any Version
sql_response probe - 1.82 downgraded to a prior release

Cause

encryption change

Resolution

Upgrading the probe to 1.82 causes the passwords to be re-encrypted to a higher standard.

Unfortunately this encryption cannot be reversed, and downgrading to 1.81 or prior will cause the probe to fail as the password can no longer be decrypted.

There are two options to resolve this issue:

  1. Leave the probe at the 1.82 version
  2. Downgrade to 1.81 or prior, and then re-enter the credentials into the probe GUI to re-encrypt them.
