Issue/Introduction

When running copyCluster to copy the Vertica database to a new system, the copyCluster was failing with the following error.

"While boostrapping catalog: Unable to load catalog"

Error: Catalog bootstrap failed.

CopyCluster FAILED.

Environment

DX NetOps Performance Management :: All Supported Versions

Cause

The Target Systems were rebooted in the middle of the initial time the customer ran copyCluster and that corrupted the database. This was an initial empty database on the target systems.

Resolution

The following steps needed to be done to resolve the issue.

On the target system:

1. Drop the database on the target systems.

2. Recreate the database on the target systems.

3. Re-run the copyCluster command.

Additional Information

In newer versions of Vertica, after the create database, the naming order of the cluster nodes may change, leading to an error in copycluster.
