This article provides important information that must be reviewed before upgrading the vSAN compute only clusters.
Currently, when upgrading a standard vSAN cluster, there is vSAN health check performed as a pre-check, and the upgrade will be blocked if any health issues are detected. However, for compute-only clusters, there is no equivalent pre-check in place as there is no vSAN running locally. This could lead to potential issues during or after the upgrade process if any health issue exists.
VMware vSAN 7.0U2 or later
To ensure a smooth upgrade process for the vSAN compute only clusters, users are strongly advised to review the Skyline Health check status before starting the vLCM upgrade. Please confirm that all health checks are green to avoid potential issues during or after the upgrade process.
